Elastic is a highly scalable open-source full-text search and analytics engine that allows users to store, search, and analyze big volumes of data quickly and in near real time. It is used as the underlying engine/technology that powers applications that have complex search requirements. Elastic originally consisted of three open source projects – Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana – jointly known as ELK stack. Now, several other projects including Marvel, Shield, Watcher, beats and Hadoop are part of the ELK stack.
